R.H. White Companies, Inc., received a grant for $147,350 through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund Program (WTFP). The grant will help the construction services and solutions company provide critical training programs to its employees.
The Baker-Polito Administration recently announced $10 million in WTFP grants which involve 133 companies from across the Commonwealth. The projects are funded by the WTFP from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. The grant program is administered by Commonwealth Corporation, the quasi-public workforce development that provides customized life learning programs.
“By funding training partnerships such as the Workforce Training Fund Program, employees do not have to enroll in outside classes to increase their earnings and advance in their careers, and employers can invest in their existing workforce in a tight labor market,” said Lieutenant Governor Polito.
R.H. White Companies is one of two Central Massachusetts construction companies to receive a grant through this program.
Jim McCarthy, President and CEO of R.H. White said, “We are extremely pleased to receive this grant and are excited to put it to good use to providing additional training to our employees. Safety, continuous improvement, and employee development are key strategic initiatives for R.H. White and this funding will allow us to significantly enhance our training programs to ensure we have the safest and best trained construction employees in the northeast.”
R.H. White’s WTFP funds will primarily be targeted toward training on safety, emotional intelligence and leadership effectiveness, mentoring and coaching, business communications and the Lean Process. The trainings will include participation from senior management, department and business unit management, superintendents, foremen and supervisors. Sessions will take place over a two-year period and all training will be held at the Leonard H. White Training Center in Auburn, MA as well as some of the company’s satellite offices throughout Massachusetts.
