R.H. White Companies Inc., a general contractor and water utility management company, is pleased to welcome Gerard Herr as our new Chief Financial Officer. In addition, we are excited to announce the promotion of Heather Whitney to Vice President of Strategy and Sustainability. These key roles will play a crucial part in our company’s future.
Gerard J. Herr
Gerry joins R.H. following nine years as CFO and Treasurer of Hatzel & Buehler, a fourth-generation-owned 135-year-old commercial electrical contractor with corporate headquarters in Wilmington, DE. Before that, he spent eight years as CFO/Divisional Controller at Tutor Perini, a civil, building, and specialty construction company. Gerry has an extensive history of implementing innovative and cost-effective financial practices that generate revenue growth and strengthen company operations within the construction industry. Gerry replaces current CFO Robert Jacobson, who will be retiring in July.

Gerry earned his BA in Accounting from Loyola University Maryland and holds certifications from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA).
Heather E. Whitney
Heather Whitney comes to her new role after 20 years of progressive responsibility at the R.H. White Companies, primarily in human resources and finance. Most recently, Heather has served as Accounting Manager. Over the last several years, she has led the company’s sustainability efforts around safety, employee engagement, environment, and social well-being.
Heather will oversee strategic initiatives, organizational development, and sustainability leadership in her new position and be responsible for the Employee Development and Business Process/IT Departments.
“With her varied experience and passion for the company’s sustainability efforts, as well as her strong financial background, Heather is uniquely qualified for this position. I look forward to her efforts to continue proactively growing and solidifying R.H. White’s sustainability through the development of great people, great planning, great execution, and great leaders for the future,” McCarthy said.
Heather earned her BS in Management from Bryant University in Smithfield, RI, and holds her Professional in Human Resources (PHP) certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI).
